Home REaders.
readers…? which noun definition do they mean?
Once upon a time, in a land not very far from here, students had just one book per year from which to learn how to read. My how things change!
Families new to the term ‘Home Reader’ may be unsure exactly if this means the kid, the parent, the books already at home. In fact a Home Reader is a very specially designed learning-to-read text needed in the first few years of school.

is there a right way to go about home readers?
In short, no. It’s mostly about the partnerships nurtured between school and home rather than specific programs used or technical processes.
Partnering with others to enhance parent efficacy is a ‘magic’ ingredient to young kiddos learning to read.
There’s no need to figure it out alone when the resources needed are within reach. Families just need a few key pointers and they’ll notice the difference in helping with reading at home.
